The renowned scholar, author, researcher and internationally reputed criminologist, Prof. John Braithwaite of Australian National University(ANU), Canberra, Australia, visited the Police Training College, Sariab, Quetta, Balochistan (Pakistan) as the first  international Guest Speaker in the history of the College, which is the only parent institution of  Police Training and Education in the largest Province of Pakistan. The College is situated in the area of Sariab, which is the most turbulent and disturbed sector of the city of Quetta. It was an honour for the Police College and Department to receive and welcome such an outstanding personality from the community of criminologists. Prof. John gave a talk on Restorative Justice and Peace-building in a conflict-ridden area, to the selected field officers from the trainees who completed their training on 29th April, 2013.It was a highly interactive discussion after his lecture. A total of 60 officers attended his talk. Later on, Prof. John had a detailed meeting with the Commandant, Police Training College, Fasihuddin (PSP), and a few officers who have served in the UN Missions, separately. Prof. John visited the newly established Model Police Station and Police Grammar School in the premises of the College. The staff and trainees were very happy to find such a great scholar amongst them and talk to him on various issues, frankly and positively. We all in the College are extremely thankful to Prof. John for visiting us in these very hard days for the masses as well as the local police.
