A three day training of Lead Trainers was conducted by UNDP in Islamabad for police, Levies and Law-Enforcement officers on how to control Electoral Violence in the upcoming General Elections on May 11, 2013. All provinces were represented by senior police officers and the Commandants/Principals of Police Training Institutions. This was a very important and timely training and education of senior and field officers who will further train Master Trainers in their respective Provinces, who in turn will impart training and distribute training materials to hundreds of Security Personals, who will perform duties at various places and posts in the Elections. Electoral Violence, before and after elections, is a serious problem and challenge for police and other LEAs. This was a timely initiative by the Election Commission of Pakistan in collaboration with UNDP for police and LEAs, which was conducted by some of the most competent police officers in Pakistan. Later on, the Evaluation and Monitoring Team of UNDP will visit the local trainings of Security Personals.
